Natrang inaugurates theatre camp exclusively for girls

JAMMU, June 18: For the first time in Jammu a girls exclusive theatre camp started here today at Natrang with the lighting of a traditional lamp by the Director Natrang, Padamshri Balwant Thakur at Natrang Studio Theatre. This Summer Theatre camp is a part of the internship programme being offered by Natrang in which very selected girl students from three major colleges viz GCW Parade, GCW Gandhinagar and Government MAM College are participating. Aimed at the holistic development of the personalities through the most latest developed techniques and devices of theatre, the methodology of this camp will later be replicated exclusively in all the colleges. Addressing the participants, Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the magical power of theatre and performing arts which have the immense capacity and capabilities of transforming a personality. The art of communication skills, the confidence of public speaking, the courage to face and address larger audiences and mastery of spontaneity in decision making comes through the practice of theatre and performing arts. Sharing his experiences of working in endless countries abroad, Balwant Thakur said that theatre in the developed world is utilised in transforming societies. Even watching theatre is considered to be the most sought after high standard activity of the developed nations and societies. Creating theatre and being a part of its creation process is considered to be the most regarded and respected activity being done for the larger welfare of those societies. Here in Jammu Natrang has destined and pledged to bring and offer all such opportunities which amazingly will bring a new revolution in the education system and civic life of Jammu. The present Theatre Camp will be a role model and its participants will be the ambassadors of new change in Jammu. This is the high-time that we generate such occasions aimed at transforming the intellectual health of Jammu thus making the real Jammu Smart City. The young artists who are going to be benefited in this camp include Deeksha Thakur, Navjot Kour, Muskhan Manhas, Anshu Sharma, Iruvantika Gurang, Shalini, Aaradhana Sudan, Rashmi Bhagat, Akriti Jamwal, Ayushika Rajput, Harman Deep Kour, Paratishtha Sharma, Vishakha Devi, Ayushi Sharma, Mahi Verma, Pooja Thakur, Sheetal Sharma, Palak Thappa, Prerna Sharma, Simran Bhagat, Simran Rajput, Pragi Sharma, Meenu Sharma, Nandini Sharma, Sukriti Khajuria, Geeta Thakur, Mehak Raina, Richa Dutta, Tania, Aanchal Sharma, Lakshita Devi, Pratibha Verma, Anshika Mangoch, Anshika Choudhary, Parul Magotra, Nandini Sharma, Lovish Mahajan, Bhumika Manhas, Aparna Singh and Kibriya Gohar. The camp is being coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and Payal Khanna.
