Tourism scaling new heights in J&K under Modi regime: Kavinder
6/18/2024 9:44:12 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 18: Senior BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today asserted that tourism sector has reached unprecedented heights in Jammu and Kashmir under Modi regime thus giving a significant push to the economy of this Union Territory.
The former deputy Chief Minister complemented the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, for approving the construction of the Chhatergala tunnel. This tunnel will link Lakhanpur with Doda via Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah as a National Highway worth Rs 4100 crore. This project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and boost tourism in the region.
Kavinder Gupta, in his statement, emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the relentless efforts of the Union Govt as well as the Union Territory Administration led by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in promoting and developing the tourism sector.
"Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we have seen a transformative change in Jammu and Kashmir. The region, known for its breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage, is now receiving the recognition it truly deserves," he said.
The senior BJP leader stated that J&K, historically caught in the vortex of Kashmir-based politics, had long been deprived of development and growth. However, under the Modi Government's leadership, the region has witnessed a significant transformation.
"In 2023, a record number of tourists visited the Kashmir Valley, showcasing the success of our pro-people policies and the newfound stability and prosperity in the region. This surge in tourism is a clear indication that J&K is emerging as a premier destination, shedding the shadows of the past," he stated.
The senior BJP leader stated that there has been unprecedented work to preserve and enhance the existing tourist destinations in J&K besides developing some unexplored destination to the tourist map of the Union Territory. He said that tourism sector in J&K has witnessed great expansion during the twin tenure of Modi Govt at the Centre. The requisite infrastructure in this sector has been developed on a scale never ever witnessed before.
The BJP government at the Centre continues to work towards enhancing India's position as a global tourism hub, with J&K playing a pivotal role in this endeavor, he added.
