| LeT financial coordinator arrested with hawala money | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 14 : A financial coordinator of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was arrested and Rs 50,000 in hawala money recovered from his possession in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said here on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of police arrested Nazir Ahmed from Pangai village in Thanamandi tehsil of the district on Friday, they said.
They said that Ahmed, who hails from Mahore in Reasi district, visited Shahdra Sharief area in the tehsil and collected Rs 50,000 in hawala money from LeT's 'Osama group'.
The money was supposed to be handed over to two militants-- Abu Noman and Abdul Rehman-- in Reasi district, they said, adding the SOG came to know abut the money transaction and arrested him.
Police have registered a case under various sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention (Amendment) Act against him in the Thanamandi police station. |
