Early Times Report

Jammu, June 18: In the wake of the below-expectation performance in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leadership in Jammu and Kashmir has issued a cautionary message to its cadre, emphasizing the need for introspection over the party’s underwhelming performance in its traditional strongholds.
The Congress party has made notable gains in these areas, which has raised concerns within the BJP ranks.
During a meeting held at the BJP headquarters, party leadership realized that support of the weaker sections especially Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) is dwindling due to the failure of the party workers to reach out to these marganized sections.
In the meeting, it was observed that instead of reaching out to these sections, most of the party leaders indulged in cheap publicity by using social media.
In the meeting assembly constituency in-charges, convenors, district presidents, and other key figures critically analyze the Lok Sabha election outcomes.
According to sources, there was a unanimous agreement on the urgency to bridge the growing disconnect between the party and its supporters ahead of the anticipated Assembly elections.
Insiders revealed that there was an acknowledgment of the party’s failure to resonate with voters

despite securing both seats in the Jammu region. The leadership highlighted a pressing need to address voter grievances and mend the widening rifts that have emerged due to apparent public discontent.
The meeting also shed light on specific constituencies where the BJP’s performance was notably weak. These included Suchetgarh, R S Pura-Jammu South, Bahu, and Nagrota, among others, where either Congress took the lead or BJP’s winning margins were significantly reduced. The narrow victory margin in Bahu was particularly concerning, equated by some as tantamount to a loss.
Efforts to engage more closely with Scheduled Tribes were discussed, especially considering challenges faced by non-BJP candidates in constituencies like Rajouri-Anantnag. This comes after the party’s move to grant ST status to Pahari-speaking people in Rajouri and Poonch with hopes of electoral support.
Senior leaders urged workers to reflect on their political strategies for improved results in future elections. He assured that all suggestions and concerns raised during the meeting would be duly noted and addressed.
The meeting called for detailed reports on various aspects of the Parliamentary election and encouraged sharing any issues or suggestions for strengthening the party’s organizational base.
