Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 19: Kiran Jamwal, Principal of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, flagged off the 5th batch of Tawi Trekkers J&K, comprising 88 students including 45 girls, for Dharamshala. The students are set to participate in the Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme organized by Tawi Trekkers J&K in the Dhauladhars of Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh.
The group, led by senior members of the club Suksham Verma and Shilpa Charak, an international climber, was escorted by Vikas Singh and Kashish Bharti, both sport climbers. Chairman of the school, Upkar Singh Jamwal, along with four teachers-Mohit Sharma, Vicky Sharma, Shariya Sharma, and Anamika Sharma-also accompanied the students. With this batch, the total participation in the programme has reached approximately 300 students.
Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School has been an active participant in the trekking programmes of Tawi Trekkers J&K for over two decades. The school has also been instrumental in promoting sport climbing by sending a substantial number of climbers to competitions in Jammu, establishing itself as a significant contributor to the sport.
In the meantime, Tawi Trekkers J&K is making necessary arrangements for a high-altitude trekking programme to Triund Meadow, situated at an altitude of over 10,000 feet. This trek promises to offer a challenging and enriching experience for the participants.
The continued involvement of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School in these trekking programmes not only fosters a spirit of adventure and resilience among the students but also contributes to the development of sport climbing in the region. The Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme provides an excellent opportunity for the young trekkers to explore the majestic Dhauladhars and gain invaluable experience.
