3 killed in Udhampur mishap

Srinagar, Mar 14: Three persons were killed and as many as thirty nine persons were injured, five of them critically, in separate mishaps across the Valley, police sources told .
Sources said that three persons were killed on the spot when a Maruti car (JK08A-0606) skidded off the road and rolled down about 400ft into a stream near Jakhani in Udhampur district of the Jammu last night.
A senior police official told that two dead persons have been identified as Tara Chand son of Mar Chand of Saeli Talab Udhampur, Gurmeet Singh son of Jaswant Singh of Jammu while identity of the third persons is being ascertained, the sources told. Meanwhile police has registered a case and started investigations.
In another accident, 37 persons were injured in a road accident this morning at Didna in Budgam district of the Central Kashmir. The accident, sources said, was caused by the negligence on part of a police constable.
Giving details about the mishap, a police official told that a bus (JK04 9367) turned turtle at Didna this morning, resulting into injuries to 37 passengers.
The injured were rushed to near by hospital where condition of five of them was declared as critical and were later removed to SKIMS, Soura for specialized treatment.
“A police constable who was on duty near a police post at Waterhel stopped the driver of the vehicle and asked him that he wants to drive it. The cop, however lost control of the vehicle after moving few paces leading to the accident,” a witness told. Duty Officer Waterhel Budgam, Imtiyaz Ahmed, when contacted by said, “The constable identified as Ghulam Qadir alias Akash, Belt NO. 418 BD, has been arrested.”
He said that a case FIR No. 114/09 has been registered and further investigations launched to ascertain the facts.
“Law will take its own course,” Ahmad, the duty officer said.
Some of the injured have been identified as Mohammad Yusuf Reshi son of Ghulam Mohammad Reshi of Muqam Waterhel, Reyaz Ahmed Wani son of Baker Wani of Parisabadpora , Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Khaliq Sheikh of Waterwani ,Mohammad Ashraf son of Ghulam RAsool Dar of Bral Budgam ,Sameer Ahmed Dar son of Abdual Rehman Dar , Irfan son of Abdual Hamid Ganie,Mohammad Ishaq son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat and Abdual Ahad Dar son of Haji Gaffar Dar hailing from Sholipora Budgam.
Meanwhile, in another accident, a Sumo (JK05-8007) turned turtle on Srinagar Baramulla Highway near Bulgam, resulting in minor injuries to two passengers. The injured have been hospitalize
