| 3 LeT ultras killed in mosque standoff | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 14 : Security forces gunned down three militants including one foreigner in an encounter which started this morning at Sarwa village of Mountainous district Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir.
informed sources told News Agency of Kashmir that on specific information about moment of a group of three LeT militants, troops of 11 RR and Local Police launched a joint search operation at Sarwa village of Keshwan.
Soon after the militants were sounded with a surrender call, they open indiscriminate firing on the troops who chased them. All the three militants including a dreaded militant Rizwan took shelter in a local mosque.
This morning, sources said that militants who were again offered to surrender, but they opened fire on the troops, which triggered gunfight and resulted in killing of all the three militants who tried to escape from the mosque.
The slain militants are yet to be identified, while the third militant has been identified as a local top militant Yousf Gujjar alias Kamran, sources said added two others probably belong to banned out-fit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and are foreign nationals.
Police suspect that another militant is still hiding in the Mosque, and efforts to eliminate him were on till later afternoon, sources added.
“All the three militants including two foreign and one local militant have been killed so far and the search operation is still going on”, Jammu based defence spokesman Lt Col Biplab Nath told News Agency of Kashmir.
In a handout issued late this evening, Defence spokesman Nath said that on specific information, a column of Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) launched an operation in general area Sarnawa, District – Kishtwar and killed three militants.
He identified the slain militants Abu Sanan, Rizwan, both resident of Doda and Abdullah Gori, resident of Pak. One AK 47 Rifle, one .303 Rifle, three AK magazines with ammunition and two hand grenades were recovered from the killed militants
The killing of these militants is said to be the great success for Police force, as it will give a severe blow to the outfit in the area. The whole operation was carried out under the proper supervision of SSP Kishtwar Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal.
Inspector General of Police Jammu, K.Rajendra Kumar has appreciated the work of searching team and said that they would continue such type of operations in future to frustrate the evil designs of anti national elements. |
