DC Kupwara reviews arrangements for ‘International Yoga Day’

KUPWARA, June 19: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for ‘International Day of Yoga’ being observed on June 21.
It was decided that the main events for celebrations of ‘International Day of Yoga’ will be organized at lawns of Government Degree College (Boys) Kupwara and at Teetwal (close to the Zero Line) where mega yoga sessions will be held to commemorate the day.
During the meeting, DC called for inter-departmental coordination, besides ensuring mass participation of youth for the success of the events. She said that the purpose of celebrating ‘International Yoga Day’ is to raise awareness among the public about the benefits of practicing yoga in life. Highlighting the benefits of doing Yoga in everyday life, Ayushi said that Yoga is an invaluable gift from our ancient tradition. Yoga embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action. It is a holistic approach that is invaluable to our health and our well-being.
The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure cleanliness, display Screens, Yoga mats, uniforms and power-back up at the venues.
The stakeholder departments were asked to make all the necessary arrangements well in time.
DC also reviewed the preparations for Sashakt Yuva events which are being organized at GDC Boys Kupwara and Townhall Kupwara, on June 20.
ADDC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACR, Kupwara, CEO LBDDA, Principals of Degree Colleges of the district, CMO, CEO, District Ayush Officer, besides other district officers were also present in the meeting.
