| Govt. to attract private investment in industrial & tourism sectors | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15-The ruling coalition has plans of offering incentives to entrepreneurs for setting up industrial units in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government has also decided to strengthen the industrial sector which could help it in resolving the problem of unemployment. Gradually the Government's efforts on attracting industrialists to the state have started bearing fruit. An integrated Textile Park is coming up at Kathua in the private sector. It will be a major unit where all activities connected with spinning, weaving and dyeing were to be carried out. Once this Textile Park was set up it would generate employment for several hundred youths. A prominent industrial House has agreed to set up units in Srinagar and Jammu. These units will be based on Information Technology. A senior officer of the SIDCO said for these IT based units land and sheds were being allotted to the Industrial House at Rangreth in Srinagar and Bari Brahmna in Jammu. He said that more units were to be set up in the private sector within next six months. The officer said that in order to ensure that local youth found jobs in these new units the Government has decided to initiate measures for imparting training to educated youth so that they acquire necessary skills which could make them eligible for employment in private sector and help them in engaging themselves in productive self-employment ventures. For this purpose a new skill Development Initiative (SDI) was to be established for imparting intensive skills to school dropouts and unemployed youth in ITIs and polytechnics. The Government has decided to reimburse the expenses on such training. Those who successfully complete this training were to be eligible for reimbursement of the expenses. The State Government also plans to attract big business houses for investing in the Tourism sector so that additional job avenues were created. Investment in Tourism sector would also ensure proper development of the tourist resorts
