6/23/2024 9:37:05 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 23: The headquarters of IGNOU, Bantalab, was abuzz with activity as Vichar Kranti Manch International (VKMI) and the Indian Yoga Association celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day. The event emphasized the holistic benefits of yoga, which integrates body and mind through movement, breathing, and meditation.
Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Yoga Commissioner and President of VKMI, highlighted the ancient roots of yoga and its numerous health benefits, including improved posture, flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness. He noted that regular yoga practice can lead to lower blood pressure, enhanced circulation, and a general sense of well-being. The session featured Asanas, Pranayama, and Meditation, following the protocol of the Ministry of Ayush, New Delhi.
Dr. Jain explained that yoga, an ancient Indian philosophy dating back thousands of years, was originally designed as a path to spiritual enlightenment. However, in modern times, its physical aspects have gained popularity as a gentle form of exercise and stress management. He stressed that regular yoga practice can improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, blood pressure management, and stress reduction, while promoting better sleep patterns and increased happiness.
The event also covered Patanjali's Ashtanga Yoga (Eightfold Path), underscoring the importance of effort, intelligence, accuracy, thoroughness, commitment, and dedication in yoga practice. Yoga, which means to join or yoke together, aims to unify the body, mind, and soul.
Yeshpaul Sharma, Director of Skill Development and Financial Solutions and Life Member of VKMI, offered additional health and yoga advice. Dr. Jaiprakash Verma, Regional Director of IGNOU, honored Dr. Jain with a shawl and bouquet. Vikram, Assistant Regional Director, welcomed Dr. Asha Upadhyay, ARD, who organized the function, while Tejendra Pal Singh, Deputy Registrar, presented the vote of thanks. Rajesh Mohan, Assistant Registrar, and Dara Singh, Section Officer, were also actively involved in the event.
