| J &K to become a Model State: Sagar | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 15- Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats Ali Mohammad Sagar today reiterated the Government’s commitment to fulfill all the promises made to make Jammu and Kashmir as one of the model states in the country. The Minister was addressing a series of public meetings held at Brain, Nowpora, Kharpora, Pahloo, Astanpora and Manzgam at Srinagar today. Sagar, while enumerating various schemes initiated for betterment of the people, said the Government stands by its commitment to alleviate their problems and take the State to a new direction by making it a model state. While asking the people for active cooperation in implementing the measures undertaken by the Government for the preservation of the Dal Lake, the Minister said it forms the lifeline of the Srinagar city and it is the duty of every citizen to see that this asset gets proper care. “We also will try to ensure that no new construction takes place in the green belt area identified by the authorities and strict adherence to the existing laws would also be ensured” he maintained. The Minister asked the people to come forward with suggestions about various schemes and development measures being undertaken by the Government. “By doing this the people would be having a participatory role which forms one of the most important dimensions of the democratic set up”, he added. The Minister during his extensive tour of Srinagar city also met several deputations and while interacting with them, assured that all their genuine grievances would be redressed in a time-bound manner.
