Jammu, June 24: After the vote share of the BJP has drastically declined in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the party leadership has asked all senior leaders to submit details of polling booths of their localities. As reported earlier despite retaining both the Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, the biggest worry for BJP is the sharp decline in the party’s vote share from 46.2 percent to 24.36 percent which is a warning signal for the party. Sources said that party leadership has asked all senior leaders from Mandal president of state office bearers to submit details of polling booths of their localities. “From Mandal presidents to state office bearers all leaders have to submit details of total votes in their polling booths and number of votes the party candidates have secured from their booths”, sources said. Sources further said that the majority of the senior leaders of the party including state office bearers, district presidents, and Mandal presidents have failed to ensure lead for party candidates in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections. “Eve The biggest worry for BJP is the sharp decline in the party’s vote share from 46.2 % to 24.36 %. Sources said that party leadership has taken very seriously note of the party’s performance on urban seats of Jammu district where BJP’s vote shared has declined drastically due to the attitude of the senior leaders. Notably, Congress candidate Raman Bhalla secured the lead in the Jammu-South and Suchetgarh assembly segments while the vote of both parties was almost the same on the newly carved Bahu Assembly seat which was earlier part of the Gandhi Nagar segment. These developments are causing concern for the local BJP unit, which is already gearing up for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled before September 30. Comparing the current results to 2019, Jitendra Singh received 51.28% of the votes (down from 61.38%), while Jugal Kishore Sharma secured 53.46% (compared to 58.02% in 2019). |
