J&K police observes International Day against Drug Abuse in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, June 26: District Police Kishtwar marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a series of awareness initiatives to educate the community about the dangers of drug abuse. Prominent public locations featured displays highlighting the ill-effects of drug use, aimed particularly at the youth and the wider community.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, JKPS, led a pledge ceremony at DPL Kishtwar, emphasizing the need to combat drug abuse. Officers, officials, and personnel from various police establishments participated in the pledge to eradicate this societal menace.
On SSP Kishtwar's directions, Addl SP Kishtwar visited the Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, where he shared critical information about drug abuse. Concurrently, the SHO of PS Kishtwar conducted a similar awareness session at Government Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, providing students with essential insights on the topic.
In his message, SSP Kishtwar advised parents to closely monitor their children's behavior and avoid imposing psychological pressures that might push them toward drugs. He urged the youth to engage in sports and excel academically to channel their energy positively. The SSP also elaborated on how drug involvement can ruin young careers and discussed the pivotal roles of parents, stakeholders, and religious leaders in curbing drug abuse. These initiatives reflect the Kishtwar Police's commitment to raising awareness and fostering a drug-free community.
