International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking celebrated at police drug deaddiction centre Channi

JAMMU, June 27: International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed with great enthusiasm and participation at police drug deaddiction centre Channi, Jammu. The event was marked by a series of activities aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is celebrated on 26 June every year to raise public awareness about the consequences of drug use and strengthen initiatives and improve coordination among various stakeholders to tackle the drug problem.
Among others,the function was attended by the SP headquarters Jammu(also Nodal officer for Police Drug Deaddiction Centre, Jammu) Sh.Irshad H. Rather-JKPS SP & Incharge Police Drug Deaddiction Centre Jammu Dr.Shehnaz.
The SP Hqrs said that "the day provides us an opportunity to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse and the impact of illicit drug trafficking." While addressing the gathering,he emphasized on the critical role of education in preventing drug abuse. "Education is our strongest weapon against the threat of drugs."We must continue to spread awareness and guide our youth towards a healthy and productive future," Officer stated.He also highlighted the efforts of law enforcement in tackling drug-related issues in the region. "
The SP hqrs Jammu informed that 98 cases under the NDPS Act were registered and 140 drug peddlers have been arrested so far this year under Operation Sanjeevani in Jammu District only.Our Police force is dedicated to eradicating drug abuse. We will continue to take stringent measures against those involved in drug trafficking and use,"
He also stressed on the importance of preventive measures to eradicate such evils. Incharge DDRC Dr. Shehnaz also shared insights on the issue, stressing the importance of community involvement and vigilance.
At the event some youth who have recovered from the drug addiction with the treatment & support at the Drug Deaddiction Centre Jammu also shared their experiences and showed their commitment for eradicating drugs from the society to save youth from death & destruction posed by the drug abuse.
The function concluded with a pledge by all attendees to work towards a drug-free society, reinforcing the message that collective efforts are essential in the fight against drug abuse.
The Anti-Drug Day celebration at DDRC was a significant step in raising awareness and encouraging the community to take a stand against drugs, ensuring a healthier future for the younger generation. At the end SP hqrs Jammu stressed on the staff members of DDRC to work with full commitment and dedication and ensure all the highest standards of counselling & treatment are maintained at the Centre.
