Students’ unions embarrass JU before NAAC team

As the CAG in its recent visit to University of Jammu proved it to be a hub of irregularities. Now its time for JU to face National Assessment and Accreditation Committee (NAAC). But as the Vice Chancellor returned to his chamber after 9 holidays just before the NAAC visit he was welcomed by a strong protest staged jointly by several student organizations.
Today in a protest against the JU authorities and the Registrar in particular the members of NSUI, JSSM, NCSU and PSU united together against the irregularities going on in the university as also been pointed out by the CAG report. The students burnt the effigy of the Registrar and alleged him of being involved in the illegal appointments made in different section of the university recently. The students also protested against the policy of the University for keeping the services of the recently established Wi. Fi. System restricted from the use of students and only the faculty has been provided an access to it and also the irregularities in the Examination system.
The students also alleged that the new vice chancellor has been in the university for the last three and a half month but till date has not called for a meeting of the Department Representatives to be aware of the ground realities but it is only when the NAAC team is coming the authorities have thought to call a meeting.
Shahnawaz Choudhary State Vice President NSUI J&K criticized the university authorities for making the university a hub of irregularities and using the University for their vested interests
Sunil Sharma State President JSSM demanded the removal of the Registrar and for an enquiry into recent employments made in the university.
Other student leaders who were stood up against the authorities in the protest were Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu (PSU), Bhageshwar Sharma (NSUI), Ajay Taloor, Virender Singh Chib.
