Resolving farmers' issues always priority of Govt, says DDC Chairman

JAMMU, June 29: District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi on Saturday emphasized that addressing farmers' concerns remains a top priority of the government.
The DDC Chairman was speaking during his visit to Panchayat Gole Gural here today. He accompanied with Sat Sharma, former Minister and Hardeep Singh Mankotia former Corporator, Ex Sarpanch Gole Gujral S. Prithpal Singh, took stock of issues being faced by farmers as well as people of Gole Gujral due to choked drainage system and the blockage of the Ranbir Canal distributory, which has severely impacted the farmers' access to irrigation water.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the DDC Chairman immediately took up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu. He emphasized the need for prompt and effective action to resolve these issues.
Following his discussions with the Deputy Commissioner, the Chairman announced that Rs. 15 lakh under the PRI component will be allocated to address both the drainage and irrigation concerns. Additionally, he confirmed the construction of an aqueduct to ensure a consistent supply of irrigation water for the farmers.
Earlier, the DDC Chairman convened a meeting with officials of Irrigation Department in view of problems being faced by the farmers of Marh Constituency due to water scarcity. He underscored the critical importance of releasing adequate water supply, especially during the peak paddy sowing season. He urged the officials to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience and that the water requirements for agricultural activities are met in a timely manner.
In a separate meeting with the authorities of the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), the DDC Chairman stressed the need for an uninterrupted power supply to support the farmers during the sowing season. He directed the JPDCL officials to prioritize and ensure regular power supply, recognizing its importance for the agricultural community.
Bharat Bhushan assured the people, including farmers, of the area that their issues would be resolved at the earliest, reaffirming the government's commitment to their well-being.
