| ECTA decides to go on strike on Mar 26 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , Mar 16- A meeting of Engineering College Teacher’s Association,(ECTA) was held here today to discuss the further course of action to press the government for immediately conceding the demands of the teaching staff including implementation of Pay /Recruitment Rules as per All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) norms.
The ECTA president Rajiv Bali, speaking on the occasion, informed that during past over a fortnight ECTA delegation has met the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Secretary Higher Education and various other senior functionaries and apprised them of their problems that even after the lapse of more than 15 years, GCET faculty is struggling for the implementation of AICTE pay/recruitment rules.
Bali said that despite repeated delegations and memoranda to the Government nothing has been done so far.
It was later decided that to press the government for immediate implementation of pay/recruitment rules, the teaching faculty of GCET would go for one day token strike on March 26, 2009 and the class work will be boycotted.
The ECTA submitted the charter of demands to the Principal GCET and urged him to take up the matter with the concerned authorities for conceding the genuine demands of the teaching staff.
Prominent among others present were Manoj Gupta,. Sarbjeet Singh, Dr. Shabana Aftab, Dr. Atula Dhar, Dr. Rajinder Gupta, Dr. Dina Nath, Dr. Sunita Kitroo, Bhawna Sharma, Sameeru Sharma, Sheetal Gandotra, Jyoti Mahajan, Satdev, Salwant Raj and Ajay Abrol.
