| Moti Kaul elected president AIKS | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi Mar 16- All India Kashmir Samaj, an apex organization of Kashmiri Pandits with more than 62 affiliates both in India and abroad, elected Moti Kaul as the new president of AIKS in a multi- cornered contest.
It was a landslide victory for Kaul who way ahead of his other contestants. His assumption of charge was greeted with joy, hope and expectations by the delegates present on the occasion. The delegates had come from all over India to participate in the event.
The outgoing president M K Kaw welcomed the new incumbent and hoped that under his dynamic leader the Samaj will tackle the problems confronting the community in a much better way and assured his full support to Kaul.
Moti Kaul in his inaugural speech thanked his predecessor for conducting the elections in the highest democratic traditions. He described the whole exercise as exemplary. He also gave a brief outline of his policies and programs emphasizing the need for connecting Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora across the globe, bringing justice for the community especially those still living in camps and below poverty line, work for getting a legitimate socio-political space for the community in J&K State.
He also had a word of caution to Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister for the speedy redressal of the problems of KPs and taking up urgent steps to address the problem of un-employment amongst the youth in addition to providing sufficient budgetary allocation for the welfare of the exiled community.
Kaul re-assured the community, especially people staying in Jammu, Delhi and NCR that he himself and AIKS would always be available to them and the interest of his community would be uppermost in his mind. ‘AIKS in future would be converted into an institution of faith, trust and hope’, he asserted.
