| Five year jail term for stone pelting | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Mar16- Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua M.R. Chak today awarded five years imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 to accused Jaswant Singh son of Baj Singh resident of Deol, Tehsil Billawar District Kathua for causing injury to one of the eye of the victim resulting in loss of vision. CJM, after hearing Chief Prosecuting Officer Inderjeet Sharma appearing for the State and Advocate Vijay Sharma appearing for the accused, observed that Court feels no hesitation in holding that accused got right eye of the complainant injured by pelting stone on December 6, 2001 as a result of which the complainant lost the vision of said eye. He is therefore convicted under section 326 RPC and sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of five years and fine of Rs 5000 According to police case on December 6, 2001, the complainant Thakara Singh along with his son had gone to their field and suddenly the accused appeared and started pelting stones, one of the stone struck against his right eye resulting into loss of vision. A case u/s 326 RPC was registered and the police after completion of the investigation presented the Challan in the Court of law on January 23, 2002 which was transferred from Billawar Court to Kathua Court upon the application made by the accused.
