| Leh will have Regional Director PCB soon: Seth | | | Early Times Report
Leh, Mar 16- Chairman State Pollution Control Board Dr. C M Seth, while chairing a meeting of the district officers here today, revealed that the office of the Regional Director SPCB would up set up in Leh shortly to monitor the schemes and activities of the Board. He also suggested the need for setting up of Organic Water Converter (OWC) equipments in the district for eco-system environment and for keeping the district headquarters pollution free. He asked the industry owners, transporters, hoteliers and health institutions to follow the guidelines of the Pollution Control Board and also suggested for constructing of dumping sites. The Deputy Commissioner A K Sahu who was also present at the meeting said that the master plan and draft plan report would be prepared by the end of the current month and the work on the dumping site would be started during next fiscal for which the land has already been identified. He said that the society of Leh district has already banned the use of polythene bags and the administration has issued orders for banning plastic bags in the market. He suggested for issuing Dos and Don’ts to create awareness among the general public about the eco-system environment by the PCB and assured to provide support and help from the district administration. The DFO B.Ballaji, who is also the Nodal Officer of the SPCB said that the government has provided Rs.6.25 lakh for training program among the teachers about controlling the noise, water, air and environment pollution.
