Plantation drive held for beautification of Centre for Organic, Natural Farming at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, July 3: The mega plantation drive has to be initiated in the coming monsoon at Main Campus, Chatha under the able guidance of Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, and with the support of Director Research, Dean FoA, Dean FoH&F, Prof. Mukesh Pandey and expert advice of Prof. R.K. Pandey, a plantation drive was initiated today at the Centre for Organic and Natural Farming, Skuast Jammu Chatha. The event marked the beginning of an effort to beautify the Centre with ornamental trees and shrubs.
Prof. Parshant Bakshi, Head of the Centre, inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a Royal Palm. Prof. R.K. Pandey contributed by planting a Fish Tail Palm. Joining them in this green initiative were Dr. Sudhir Singh, Prof. at CONF, Mr. Sadiq Ahmed, Niraj Manhas, FCLAs Vijay Choudhary, Garu Ram, Deepak Kumar, Sunil Kumar, and other staff members, who all actively participated by planting various ornamental species in the designated lawn area. This initiative aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Centre and promote a greener environment, reflecting the commitment of SKUAST-Jammu towards sustainable and eco-friendly practices.
It is worthwhile to mention that Prof.Bakshi has already planted 12500 fruit plants with his students and well wishers since 2016 under Save Horticulture and keeps on encouraging for planting of fruit plants on Birthday or special day.
