Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, July 3: Sewerage wastage from some of the shops and other business outlets on NH-44 from Chenani to Bali and other places directly drain their wastes into Tawi River as these outlets have no septic tanks and the administration is in deep slumber.
Rohit Sharma (name changed) daily commuter from Udhampur to Chenani said: "I daily see many shops, eateries and other business outlets en-route with washroom facility and the waste directed into Tawi River.
He quoted the example of market opposite to highway Petrol Pump in Bali area of Udhampur to support this claim.
Shocking is that people of Udhampur town drink the water of River Tawi after it is supplied by PHE supply after filtration but experts claim that still such water can cause waterborne diseases like jaundice, diarrhoea etc.
Sources informed that many cases of such ailments have already visited GMC Udhampur.
On the condition of anonymity a medico at GMC informed that sewerage mixed water is very dangerous for health and may cause many waterborne deadly diseases.
ADC Udhampur when contacted informed that he will personally probe the entire matter and take strict action against the guilty.
"Soon we will constitute a team to inspect the wrong doing and instruct the business outlets to construct septic tanks at their premises else action as per the law shall be taken against the erring persons," he maintained.
