DC presides Block level Pani Samiti Convention at Devsar

KULGAM, July 3: A Block level Pani Samiti Convention was today organised here at Devsar under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) by Jal Shakti Department and the programme was presided over by the District Development Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan.
The programme was also attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri, JDP, Zahid Sajjad, Exen Jal Shakti, Tehsildar and other officers besides Pani Samiti members.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed for preservation & conservation of water resources besides judicious use of water.
A detailed interactions regarding different ongoing Water Supply Schemes, and related infrastructure was held among the Pani Simitis and members of the Jal Shakti department in the area.
During the programme, the role and responsibility regarding planning, implementation, management, operation and maintenance of village water supply systems was highlighted.
It was informed that 6139 households have been provided with potable water connections to date, working towards the set target of 7717 households in Devsar block.
It was also disclosed that under JJM, Devsar block has a total of 11 schemes with 3 already completed and 3 schemes nearing completion and 5 would be completed within two months. It was emphasized that access to clean water is a fundamental right and a top priority under the JJM.
