Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 5: In honor of the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Suraj Prakash Gupta, the esteemed founder of Bharat Vikas Parishad, the organization has orchestrated a fortnight of events across India. As part of these commemorations, the Shivalik Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad organized a significant plantation drive at Green Belt Park, Chhani Himmat.
The event saw the presence of notable guests including Dr. Gautam Mehngi, a renowned social activist and state sanchalak of RSS, who served as the chief guest. Vikram Randhawa, former MLC, presided over the function, while Neena Gupta, Ex-Corporator of JMC, was a special invitee.
Plantation drives play a crucial role in addressing various environmental challenges such as deforestation, soil erosion, desertification in semi-arid areas, and global warming. By planting trees, the initiative contributes to increasing oxygen supply and enhancing the beauty and ecological balance of the environment.
Ashok Khajuriya, Secretary of the Shivalik Branch, conducted the program proceedings. H.C. Vaid, Branch President, welcomed the guests and participants, highlighting the importance of plantation for all living organisms. With the support of Ashwini Kumar Mittal, DFO, and his team, approximately 80 shady and herbal plants were planted. Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Convener (Yoga) Bharat Vikas Parishad and State Yoga Commissioner, recited a song emphasizing the significance of tree plantation. He depicted how planting trees helps save the environment and enrich our lives, providing essential oxygen, food, and shade.
Anju Bansal, Project Incharge and Branch Bal Vikas and Mahila Pramukh, also recited a song about the benefits of tree plantation. The event was graced by prominent citizens of Chhani Himmat, including BB Sharma, State President, Shivram Sharma, General Secretary, Arun Sharma, and Ashok Gupta (National Executive Members Sampark and NGSC), along with Jagdish Singh Ishwar, State Coordinator Environment, who shared insights on the need for tree plantation.
Dr. Gautam Mehngi and BB Sharma blessed the participants, and Ashok Gupta presented a vote of thanks, concluding the event in a simple yet impressive manner.
This plantation drive by Bharat Vikas Parishad not only commemorates the legacy of Dr. Suraj Prakash Gupta but also reinforces the organization's commitment to environmental conservation and community service.
