| MIER College of Education initiates annual research activity | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 17- MIER College of Education, J&K’s first ISO 9001:2000 certified and NAAC Accredited College, today started a week- long research activity by organizing a Research Colloquium. Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Director, MIER and Principal MIER College of Education, Dr. Renu Gupta presided over the function. Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER was the resource person for this research activity. Dr. D. R. Kapoor, Convener of the Research Committee of the College while welcoming the resource persons and the dignitaries present on the occasion highlighted the objective of organizing these types of activities by the college. Dr. Adit Gupta in his presentation highlighted the work done by him during his research for the Ph. D. degree received from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia. He also provided information to the audience of various learning environment instruments available to study numerous dimensions of education that have still not been used in Indian school settings and urged the researchers to use them extensively in future research studies. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arun K Gupta greatly appreciated Dr. Adit Gupta for having put MIER on the International stage by obtaining a research degree from Australia and winning a research award also. He stressed that higher education without research is not relevant and exhorted the faculty members to take up research activities in a big way, since the journey is extremely challenging, but immensely rewarding. He felt that the faculty was doing an excellent job in preparing the ground for the higher education program in the institute, which would further boost the research activities. Dr. Renu Gupta, Principal of the college informed the audience that a four day action research workshop will be organized to celebrate the research week in which Prof Lokesh Koul will be guiding the researchers in strategies, methodologies and the trends in action research.
