KVK conducts Farmer Scientist Interaction at Sigdi

Kishtwar, July 6: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today organized farmer scientist interaction at village Sigdi of the District in collaboration with the Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department Kishtwar in which the farmers from the panchayat Sigdi Tehsil Mugal Maidan participated. The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul, Incharge KVK Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu.
The programme was intended to get the experts apprised of the crop production related farmers problems and provide on the spot solutions to them by providing guidance to the technical issues related to the agriculture. During the programme, method demonstration was conducted to train the farmers regarding use of pheromone traps for management of insect pest of vegetables and fruit crops. Besides, deliberations were also scientific vegetable nursery raising, safe pesticides use, scientific management of crops and formation and management of farmer commodity groups and organizations. During the interaction, farmers raised queries about chilly wilt, fruit borer in brinjal and blight in tomato and on the spot solutions were provided to the farmers.
Raj Kumar from Agriculture Department sensitized the participants about various schemes of the department for farmers welfare. 50 farmers, farm women and youth of the village including Mohd Iqbal, Mohammad Yousaf, Naseema Begum, Ashok Kumar, Satish Kumar, Bashir Ahmad Mohammad Salim, Fareeda Begum participated in the programme. Vegetable seed kits were distributed among the participants at the end of the programme.
