7/6/2024 9:19:11 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 6 : In light of the resurgence of plastic bag usage, JD(U) State General Secretary Vivek Bali urgently calls for immediate action to halt their use due to the severe impact on both public health and the environment. Despite previous efforts to reduce plastic waste, the return of plastic bags poses a significant threat that cannot be ignored.
Plastic bags are notorious for their detrimental effects. They contribute to pollution, harm wildlife, and are a significant source of non-biodegradable waste that clogs our ecosystems. Moreover, the chemicals in plastic bags can leach into food and water, posing serious health risks to humans.
Vivek Bali emphasizes the urgent need for alternative solutions. “We cannot afford to revert to old habits that harm our environment and endanger our health,” he stated. “It is crucial that we adopt sustainable practices and enforce policies that eliminate the use of plastic bags.
“The call to action includes Immediate enforcement of bans on plastic bags in all retail and grocery stores , Promotion of reusable bags and other eco-friendly alternatives, Public awareness campaigns to educate communities on the importance of reducing plastic waste.
Vivek Bali urges local authorities, businesses, and citizens to unite in this effort. By working together, we can protect our environment, safeguard our health, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
