Increasing terrorist attacks indicate growing discontentment among people under BJP regime: Tony
7/9/2024 10:28:13 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 9: Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Suchetgarh, has vehemently condemned the heinous terrorist attack on an army convoy in Kathua district that resulted in the tragic martyrdom of five soldiers and left five others injured. Expressing profound grief, he underscored the worsening security situation under the current BJP regime, criticizing the government's failure to address the underlying issues contributing to such incidents.
In a statement released today, the senior Congress leader lamented the loss of brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. "The sacrifice of our soldiers should not go in vain. It is imperative that we take immediate and decisive action to prevent such attacks and ensure the safety and security of our armed forces and citizens," he asserted.
Tony pointed out that the increasing frequency of such attacks is a stark indicator of the growing discontentment among the local populace, which he attributed to the policies of the current BJP regime. "The tall claims of the government about restoring peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir stand exposed. The ground reality is far from the rosy picture painted by the authorities," he stated.
Highlighting the rampant unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, Tony emphasized that it is one of the key factors driving local youth towards supporting terrorism. "The highest ever unemployment rate in the region has led to frustration and hopelessness among the youth. This discontentment is being exploited by terrorist organizations to further their nefarious agenda," he explained.
The senior Congress leader called for an urgent review of the government's approach to addressing the socio-economic issues in the region. He urged the administration to create more employment opportunities and ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of Jammu and Kashmir. "It is high time for the government to focus on winning the hearts and minds of the people through inclusive and sustainable development," he added.
