| Bhagat chairs Rural Tourism meeting in Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, MARCH 17 - To implement the centrally sponsored Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP) scheme for the promotion and expansion of Rural Tourism Programme in the district, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Mr. Guldev Raj Bhagat today. While deliberating upon the scheme execution, the meeting was informed that an amount of Rs. 20 lakh has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under CBSP for the site Marwari in Karool village of district Kishtwar as a part of the programme to boost the rural tourism in potential areas. It was apprised that the amount shall be utilized for creating software components in the Marwari spot which includes surveying and rural appraisal, community participation, workshops on social mobilization, training programme in tourism service, handling tourist guide. Training in handloom, handicrafts, crewel, straw weaving, photography training to local youth, development of orchards and assistance programme in cultivation of fresh vegetable, pickle making, entertainment of locals, folk culture activities, workshops on tourism incentive schemes to boost the rural tourism, expansion was also discussed. Besides publicity of fairs and organization food festivals in the area to motivate the tourist to the site being adopted as Tourist Village in district Kishtwar was also taken up in the meeting. Addressing the participants, the DDC stressed for putting in sincere efforts by the line departments to make the innovative rural tourism scheme a purposeful economic activity for the rural people of the district that will go a long way in shaping their economy on progressive lines by way of extending the tourist industry in rural areas. The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer, Kishtwar Development Authority, Mr. Khalid Jhangir, ACD Mr. G. N. Balwan, CPO and AD Tourism, Batote/ Kishtwar.
