Police organises 'Thana Diwas' at Nowshera

RAJOURI, July 11: As part of public outreach programme, Thana Diwas an initiative of Government of J&K, was organised today at Police Station Nowshera under the aegis of Rajouri Poonch Range Police Headquarters and District Police Office Rajouri.
The Programme was chaired by Additional SP Nowshera Sh.Mohd Rafi Giri-JKPS alongwith SDPO Sh. Jaswant Singh-JKPS ,SHO Sh. Rakesh Sharma and other police officers. Bevpar Mandal Pradhan Sh. Bharat Bushan Gupta, Ex. Bevpar Mandal President Sh.Subash Kapoor, Sh.Jagdish Saini Sanathan Dharam Pradhan, Prithvi Raj Khokhar Chairman New National Public School, Davinder Kumar, Dharamveer Gupta, Sukhdev Raj, Gopal Krishan, Suresh Raina, Afzal Hussain Ward Member, social activists, former sarpanches, panches, retired police personnel, civil society members and respectable persons of the area were also present on the occasion.
To begin with SDPO Nowshera welcomed all participants for sparing their time to participate in the meeting to further reach to each other in pursuit of social and national good.He thanked public for having faith in policing and for corporation whenever need of the same has been felt.He finally requested public for one by one speaking on issues pertaining to them and general public.
During the Programme, participants highlighted various issues of Nowshera Town like black topping of link road from Police Station to main market, bovine smuggling, traffic regulation and enforcement , issue of outsiders/ outside hawkers in market, installation of CCTV camera at Nakas, drugs menace and other issues of public importance in response to which Addl SP assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of administration will be taken with the concerned departments. Addl SP requested public that because they are eyes and ear of Police and must keep watch on the movement of suspicious persons in the area and on anti-national and anti-social elements. He said that anyone who informs Police about anti-national and anti-social elements shall be suitably rewarded and their names shall be kept secret. He said that already awareness programmes on new criminal laws have been organised in different colleges and schools and that in coming days more such programmes shall be organised. He requested public to not venture near rivers as because of monsoon rains water level of rivers and streams has increased considerably which is dangerous. He also requested parents to keep watch on the activities of their kiths and kins to prevent them from drug indulgence and other crimes especially when everyone is using electronic digital devices.
Speaking on the occassion Addl. SP said that 'THANA DIWAS' is an initiative started by the Government of J&K to bridge the gap between Police and Public and also to listen and redress the grievances of common masses. He assured to public that Police will make every effort to ensure that public lives in peace and that their problems are addressed/ resolved. He on spot issued directions to SHO and other Police officers present to remain available to the public '24×7' and to see to it that public of the area does not face any inconvenience . At last SHO thanked public for sparing time and attending the Thana Diwas.
