| J&K has its own ‘Third Front’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, March 17: In the season of Lok Sabha elections when new political formulations are emerging in the country in their march to the Raisina Hills, Jammu and Kashmir is not far away –a Third Front has born with the aim to challenge two local and two national political parties. Around two dozen candidates, including political stalwarts of their times, who lost the recent assembly elections, have joined hands together to formally launch a grouping which will contest Lok Sabha elections on all six seats. “We will contest all six seats and expose dubious politics of these four parties –BJP, Congress, National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party”, said Sheikh Abdul Rehman, a former Member Parliament and patron of the front which has been named as All Parties Peoples Front APPF. Muzaffar Hussain Shah, the President of the Awami National Conference and son of former Chiegf Minister GM Shah is president of the new front. Sheikh told Early Times, “most of us have association with national and regional parties and those primary associations will remain while working together in this joint front”. “APPF has come into existence to provide an alternative to the people who have always been exploited with false promises and hollow slogans. The newly created front will emerge as a force for the value based politics,” said Muzaffar Shah. Besides Sheikh and Shah, the APPF has representatives of Save Srinagar Front (SSF), Mufti Nizam-ud-din, National Vice-president Lok Jan Shakti party (LJP), Sanjay Saraf , President National Democratic Conference, Abdul Gani Naseem , Provincial President of Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Mehraj-ud-din and other political leaders. “APPF is not Kashmir centric front. It is a front comprising many parties and leaders from all the regions of the state. Our effort will be to bring six consensus candidates, who’ll contest the coming parliamentary elections and raise the voice of Kashmiris in the Parliament,” Shah added. Reports reaching said that APPF will also decide the candidature for the three vacant assembly seats in the state. “We will decide over the issue very soon,” Shah told reporters. Expressing displeasure over the performance of the parliament members, Shah said that the MP’s from the state have failed to project the Kashmir issue and the continued human rights violations in the houses of Parliament. “It is very unfortunate and shameful that Our MP’s have never raised voice in the Parliament for the resolution of Kashmir issue. They have never opened their mouth to protest the human rights violations in the state,” Shah said. Speaking on the occasion, State president of Samajwadi party (SP), Sheikh Abdul Rehman said that APPF was the need of hour as the divisive forces were misleading the people of the state with false promises and communal agenda. He said some political parties created communal atmosphere in the two regions of the during the Amarnath Land row for their personal interests. “The people want to get rid of the divisive forces and APPF can be an alternative, a new platform to them. We will jointly give a befitting reply to the forces who have exploited the people of the state,” Rehman said. “As far as previous Congress –Peoples Democratic Party coalition government is concerned they were a failure. The ruling coalition is non-existent and directionless,” he added.
