Early Times Report

Jammu, July 12: Even as some former legislators associated with the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) are ready to rejoin the Congress party, some party leaders are sabotaging the “Ghar Wapsi” of these leaders.
Fearing that the return of these leaders in the Congress party would challenge their supremacy in the party, some Congress leaders are misinforming the high command about loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who are ready to shift their loyalties after realizing that their future is bleak in the DPAP.
Highly placed sources said that during the recent All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge J&K Bharatsinh Solanki and AICC Joint Secretary Manoj Yadav in Kashmir meeting of the Azad loyalists was finalized with the Congress leaders but at the eleventh hours some local leaders sabotaged the whole exercise.
Solanki and Yadav visited Kashmir during the last week of June with a mission to rope in some former Congress leaders who are still active in the DPAP of Ghulam Nabi Azad. It was only after getting an encouraging response from Azad loyalists that Solanki and Yadav had finalized their visit to Kashmir.
Sources said that ex-legislators associated with DPAP have announced to rejoin the Congress with a promise to get the party mandates in the coming Assembly e

“The Congress high command is ready to give the party tickets to these ex-legislators but some local leaders- aspiring to contest the coming Assembly elections, are creating hurdles in their Ghar Wapsi”, sources said.
As reported earlier by this newspaper, four former legislators from Kashmir Valley, associated with the DPAP, were ready to rejoin Congress
A prominent leader of the Baramulla district of North Kashmir was going to leave Ghulam Nabi Azad and return to Congress. This leader, a former MLA and minister, had contested many elections on a Congress ticket, but when Azad resigned from the Congress in August 2022, this prominent leader also resigned from the Congress and joined Azad’s party.
Another former MLA from North Kashmir is also in touch with the Congress leadership to rejoin the party.
Along with the leader of the Baramulla district, a senior leader of the Kulgam district of South Kashmir is also going to return to Congress. Apart from being a member of the Legislative Assembly, this leader has also been a member of the Legislative Council. This leader is considered a staunch supporter of Ghulam Nabi Azad but now he is fed up with the style of the functioning of the party.
Another former MLA from South Kashmir, who belongs to Anantnag district, is also returning to the Congress.
