NCC cadets of PSPS GCW Gandhinagar spearhead "Paper Bag Day" campaign

JAMMU, July 12: Today, the 41 spirited NCC cadets of 2 J&K Girls Bn Jammu Unit at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt College for Women, Gandhinagar, Jammu, marked a significant environmental initiative with their observance of "Paper Bag Day". With the resonant theme "Stop bagging the planet - say NO to plastic bags", the cadets passionately crafted eco-friendly paper bags from waste newspapers. The day commenced with a vibrant rally, commencing from the college grounds and culminating at the Ware House. Along the route, the cadets engaged with local shopkeepers, earnestly enlightening them about the perils of plastic bags and advocating for the adoption of paper alternatives. Their efforts aimed to catalyze a shift towards sustainable practices and integrate the shopkeepers into the broader "Go Green Campaign".
This initiative was taken under the patronage of Dr. S P Sarswat, the Principal of the College and Col Muneesh Jasrotia, Commanding Officer , 2 J&K Girls Bn, who praised the cadets for their proactive stance towards environmental conservation and underscored their commitment to combat plastic pollution. The cadets' enthusiasm and dedication were palpable as they distributed these eco-friendly alternatives to shopkeepers, encouraging immediate action towards reducing plastic consumption. The NCC cadets of 2 J&K Girls Bn have set a commendable precedent, inspiring communities to embrace sustainable choices and safeguard our planet for generations to come.
