Early Times Report
KARGIL, July 17: The sacred day of Ashura e Hussaini was solemnly observed in Kargil under the banner of Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUIAK) Ladakh. Over 27 mourning processions from various villages and town areas joined to remember the supreme sacrifice of the Martyrs of Karbala.
The mourners, expressing their grief, recited noha and performed Zanjeer Zani. The processions began entering the main bazar at 10:30 AM, passing through the main bazar Kargil, and by noon, they converged at Houza Elmiyah Asna Asharia Kargil. By 4:30 PM, the processions reached Inqilab Manzil, famously known as Qatilgha e Hussaini, where the Ashura e Hussaini concluded with the recitation of ziyarat Ashura and a main sermon by Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Nazir ul Mehdi Mohammadi, President JUIAK Ladakh. In his sermon, Sheikh Nazir ul Mehdi Mohammadi illuminated the philosophy of Ashura, delivered a brief Masayib, and prayed for harmony and peace.
He expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir UT administration and the central government for permitting the 8th Muharram-e-Harram mourning procession in the Kashmir Valley after 34 years and appealed for the 10th Muharram-e-Haram procession to be allowed as well. Additionally, he urged the LG UT J&K to lift restrictions on Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
Sheikh Nazir also appealed to the Lt Governor UT Ladakh to review the Muharram arrangements for next year and allocate funds. He suggested that a meeting should be chaired by the LG Ladakh and that funds be allocated at the UT level for Muharram, given its significance to more than half the population of UT Ladakh.
Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili, General Secretary of Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Islamia School Kargil, expressed sincere gratitude to the District Administration, Health Department, Ladakh Police, volunteers, and concerned departments for their cooperation on Ashura. He particularly appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Committee Kargil for their special consideration for hygiene during the procession by appointing officers and volunteers to ensure cleanliness.
