Awareness campaign cum rally organised against drug abuse, illicit trafficking

Reasi, July 18: Department of Social Welfare, Reasi organized an awareness campaign and rally against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at Government Higher Secondary School, Aghar Jitto.
The event was graced by Director, Department of Social Welfare Jammu, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, as the chief guest.
Students and faculty of the school participated actively, presenting insightful speeches on drug abuse. Series of activities were held including poetry, singing, and poem recitation to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The Director emphasized the urgent need to eliminate drugs from society. He urged parents to monitor their children's behaviour regularly and encouraged the community to report any known drug distribution activities to the district administration and police.
He also stressed to convert this campaign to mission mode so that this message shall reach a larger part of the society. He further said that it is the responsibility of all of us to accept those people who have taken the path of drug addiction and guide and counsel them so that they can again become part of the mainstream. As part of the event, the Director also honoured newly born girl children under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme.
District Social Welfare Officer Reasi Sachin Sharma concluded the event with vote of thanks and appraised that such similar programmes shall be organized at regular intervals across the district to create awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse. He also urged the masses especially the youths to act as beacon and render their cooperation to eradicate the menace of drugs and illicit trafficking from the society. He also added that a strong force of 50 Master Volunteers have been made and are leading Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan activities across the district Reasi, providing on-spot counselling to vulnerable and guide them to the nearest counselling and de-addiction facility.
Principal Higher Secondary School Agar Jitto Dara Singh, SDPO Katra, Surinder Singh Billoria, Assistant Director (Schemes SWD), Dr. Pallavi Sharma, Assistant Director, (Administration SWD) Shivani Gotra, Block Medical Officer Katra Dr. Rashpal Bangotra, Drug Inspector Reasi, Teachers and other officers were present.
