Akhnoor, July 22: On Monday, the Akhnoor police successfully apprehended two habitual offenders in connection with the brutal assault on a youth at Chandian Ghat, Akhnoor, last Saturday.
The accused have been identified as Vishal Sharma @Vishu s/o Vijay Kumar resident of Galwaday Tehsil Marh, and Vikash Singh@ Vinay s/o Balbeer Singh @ Beera resident of Bomal Tehsil Akhnoor.The two were part of a group of five who attacked Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Palwan Akhnoor, on Saturday night using sharp-edged weapons.
Following the incident, the Akhnoor Police registered FIR 134/2024 under sections 109/115(2)/191(2)/191(3) of the BNS and 4/25 of the Arms Act at Akhnoor police station. A manhunt for the accused was launched immediately on Saturday night. On Monday morning, during a raid in the Ring Road area of Bawe Talab, a police team headed by SHO Akhnoor Tariq Ahmed under supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma successfully arrested the two notorious criminals.
The weapons used for committing crime have been recovered on the disclosures of accused. The raids were closely monitored by SP Rural Brijesh Sharma.
The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests of those involved in this case are anticipated in the coming days.
