SCERT Jammu celebrates Shiksha Saptah

JAMMU, July 22: A team from SCERT Divisional Office, Jammu under the leadership of Joint Director SCERT Divisional Office Jammu and Head ECCE Wing visited GMS, Raipur Bhalwal Zone, GHS Raipur Satwari and GHSS Muthi regarding the Celebration of Shiksha Saptah from 22nd-28th of July, 2024 on the eve of 4th anniversary of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, embarking the celebration of TLM (Teaching Learning Material) Day which is slated on 22nd of July, 2024 as the first day of celebration. The celebration started with the address of Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor Joint Director Jammu Division and she exhorted the teachers about the importance of TLM and encourages the teachers to use TLM in their every classroom transaction. The teachers were made aware about the NEP-2020 and the role of ECCE in the curriculum about the overall development of the child. The team emphasized on the use of latest pedagogical skills while demonstrating the TLM. The session included the story telling, recitation of poem and display of Jadui Pitara which is the latest innovation of NCERT regarding the use of TLM.
While taking the concept of Jadui pitara to the grass root level the Resource Persons demonstrated the use of TLM i.e. colour seriation cards, tracing cards, missing cards, colour dominoes, pre-number concept cards etc. making teaching learning more interesting and enjoyable.
Resource persons Meena Thakur and Geeta Bharti, conducted story-telling and poem recitation with the use of TLM. Kamini Verma deliberated on the key point of NEP-2020, which emphasize the use of TLM like puzzles and riddles which shift their learning from rote memory to experiential learning.
The students enjoyed the whole session while actively participating in the activities.
