Dogra Degree College holds successful Induction cum Orientation Programme

JAMMU, July 22: Dogra Degree College recently hosted its Induction Cum Orientation Programme for students entering Semester 3 and 5, marking the beginning of a new academic year with a series of engaging and informative activities. The event, held at the college premises, was meticulously planned to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the academic environment and opportunities available.
The programme began with a thought-provoking introduction and comparison by Ravinder Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of English reflected on the evolution of academic practices and set the stage for the day's events. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony followed, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the welcoming of new beginnings.
Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal of Dogra Degree College, delivered the welcome address, extending a warm greeting to the students and providing an overview of the institution's vision and goals for the upcoming year. Her address underscored the commitment of the college to foster an enriching academic environment.
Following the welcome address, a detailed PowerPoint presentation on institutional guidelines was conducted, offering students crucial information about the college's rules, regulations, and academic expectations. This session aimed to equip students with the knowledge necessary to navigate their academic journey successfully.
The programme continued with interactive sessions led by the Heads of Departments, providing insights into their respective fields. Ms. Swati Mahajan, HOD of Commerce, Sonia Gupta, HOD of BBA, and Mr. Balwant Thakur, HOD of Humanities, each delivered engaging activities, outlining the academic and extracurricular opportunities within their departments. These sessions were designed to facilitate student engagement and help them understand the resources available to them.
An inspiring segment of the programme featured experience-sharing by student achievers from various departments. NSS volunteers, NCC Cadets, and UBA volunteers shared their personal experiences and accomplishments, offering valuable insights and motivation to their peers. This segment highlighted the diverse achievements and active involvement of students in various college activities.
Dr. Dharamveer Sharma, the esteemed Dean of Dogra Educational Trust, delivered an enlightening address that underscored the vital role of academic excellence and personal development in shaping a successful academic journey. Dr. Sharma eloquently highlighted how pursuing high academic standards is not merely about grades but also about fostering critical thinking, innovation, and a lifelong passion for learning. His speech inspired students to embrace their educational experiences with dedication and a commitment to personal growth. Following Dr. Sharma's address, Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, the Secretary of Dogra Educational Trust, provided a compelling address that reaffirmed the institution's unwavering commitment to student success and holistic development. Dr. Charak emphasized the college's dedication to creating a supportive environment that nurtures both academic achievements and personal well-being. His remarks reflected the institution's strategic vision to cultivate well-rounded individuals prepared to excel both academically and in their future endeavors.
The Orientation Programme was followed by another cultural event i.e. RuttRadde.The culmination of the RuttRadde Celebration was led by Mr. Ravinder Rao, who brought the traditional festivities to a meaningful close. The Chief Guest of the function was Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educstional Trust and president Dogra Sadar Sabha. The Event included the extravaganza of Dogta culture, tradition, rituals, Foods and flavours.The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kanchan Dubey, IQAC Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions to the success of the programme.
The orientation programme ended on a unifying note with the singing of the National Anthem, reinforcing a sense of unity and national pride among the attendees. The successful execution of the Induction Cum Orientation Programme set a positive tone for the academic year ahead, fostering a strong sense of community and readiness among the students of Dogra Degree College.
