Govt Nursing College Pulwama hosts SOTTO Declamation on "Organ Donation"

Srinagar, July 23: Jammu and Kashmir State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) in its second event in the Indian Organ Donation month organised a Declamation Competition in English and Urdu on "Organ Donation" in Government Nursing College, (GNC) Pulwama today on 23rd July.
Students from various Nursing Colleges of Kashmir Division namely Florence Paramedical and Nursing Institute, Nai Basti; SET Paramedical and Nursing Institute; Bij Behara, Anantnag; Government Nursing College/GNM, Pulwama; South Kashmir Paramedical and Nursing College, Kulgam; Institute of Nursing, University of Kashmir, South Campus, Fatehgarh Anantnag ; Government Nursing College, Anantnag and Dolphin Nursing College, Pulwama presented the concept of Organ Donation through oration.
Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director SOTTO presented current scenario of Organ Donation in India and the world, information on National Organ Transplant Programme (NOTP) explaining reasons for lower rate of organ donation in the country.
Dr Saima Jeelani, Assistant Professor, Govt. Nursing College Anantnag and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Lone, Transplant Coordinator SOTTO motivated the students and others to register themselves as organ donors on Government Portal (notto.abdm.gov.in) with their Aadhaar linked mobile no.
English Declamation was won by Nuzhat Nazir (1st position) from Florence Paramedical and Nursing Institute, Nai Basti Anantnag, Irtiza Ayaz (2nd) of Institute of Nursing, University of Kashmir, South Campus, Fatehgarh Anantnag and 3rd position was jointly secured by Inshallah Farooq from Government Nursing College Pulwama and Urfi Shakeel from Government Nursing College Anantnag.
Urdu Declamation was won by Bazila Jan (1st) from Government Nursing College Anantnag, Mansoor Younis (2nd) from Dolphin Nursing College, Pulwama secured and Huzaif Farooq (3rd) from Florence Paramedical and Nursing Institute, Nai Basti.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Aftab Masood Principal , Government Nursing College Pulwama. He also expressed gratitude to SOTTO J&K for involving various nursing colleges of Kashmir region and requested for more such events.
