| Chakan-da-Bagh point trades Rs 20 lakh goods | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, March 18: As already reported that Tuesday’s consignment from Poonch to Rawalakote was highest since the beginning of trade between two parts of Jammu and Kashmir but when goods from other side of the Line of Control arrived in Poonch today, the total cost of commodities exchanged has been estimated at around Rs 20 lakhs. Traders from PoK sent items worth Rs (in Pak currency) 12, 62, 880 to traders in Poonch on the second day through cross-LoC point of Chakan-Da-Bagh in Jammu region. On the first day, traders from Poonch exported items worth Rs 6,55,948 to PaK. Official sources said that two trucks (9141-P, RIS-07-1638-D) and Mini Van(LET-07-33626) driven by Muhammad Akhbar son of Wali Muhammad, Muhammad Rafiq and Abdul Rashid respectively crossed over to Poonch from Pak Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) this afternoon at around 1420 hours. Reports reaching Press Bureau of India said that trader, Data Agency Pak, sent 200 bags of Moongdal, 2 bags of almond and 10kg ‘Munka’ to Rajeev Traders Pooch. Another trader, Abdul Rashid of Hazara Rawalkote sent 362 lady Chappals (slippers) and 40 kg Rice to Manau Shoes Pooch. The Data traders also sent 555 boxes of Kino (orange variety), ginger-stem 60 bags, 2 quintal peas and 2 quintal lemon to M/s Bansi Lal and Sons and 240 ladies-gents chappals (slippers). Besides, a trader from Pak, also sent gift, 1 Kino box, 30 bags of rice each weighing 10kg to Ram Sahai, the President of KCCI Jammu. Yesterday, the officials said that four trucks carrying goods worth Rs 6,55,948 crossed over to PaK from Poonch Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC). Items exported by M/s Bansi Lal and Sons include 513 bags onion (28,368 kg), 300 boxes bananas (5400 kg), 131 boxes tomatoes (2620 kg), six bags carrot (410 kg), two bags coconut (100 kg), five bags grapes (25 kg), one bag green chilly (46 kg) and one bag ladyfinger (30 kg).The items carried a price tag of Rs 5,24,885, sources said. Similarly, 35 quintals ‘rajmash’ worth Rs 83,000 were exported to PaK by M/s Tandon Traders while 25 boxes tomatoes, 25 boxes bananas (500 kg) and 55 bags onion (2209 kg), all items valued at Rs 50035, were exported by Muhammad Taj. Reports reaching Press Bureau of India said that since the beginning of the trade on the routes from 21 October 2008 to 25 February this year, state has exported commodities of more than Rs 10 lakh on the Poonch-Rawalakote road while the imports have been on a higher side at Rs 21 lakh. Likewise the export of the goods on the Srinagar-Muzafarad road has been more than 3000 quintal while as the import has been more than 2757 quintals. The trade between two sides is going on barter system in the absence of any specific guidelines including banking and communication facilities between the two sides of the line of control.
