JPDCL urges consumers for solar rooftop under PM Surya ghar scheme
7/23/2024 10:36:39 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 23: The Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) is encouraging homeowners to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar scheme by registering for solar rooftop installations. This initiative, part of the Centre's flagship program, offers free solar energy and significant benefits.
In a significant development, around 30 empanelled Solar PV Vendors are being integrated into the National PM Surya Ghar portal, paving the way for the rollout of the subsidized solar rooftop scheme in the Jammu Division. According to a statement released to the press, this move will enable the implementation of the scheme, providing benefits to homeowners in the region. The statement highlighted the progress made in onboarding vendors, facilitating the installation of solar rooftop plants under the PM Surya Ghar scheme."
According to a JPDCL spokesperson, the organization aims to install more than 41000 solar rooftops in the region by March 31, 2027, under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. The spokesperson announced that a significant number of consumers have already expressed interest and registered on the national portal, and with the onboarding of approved vendors, the installation process has commenced. The spokesperson encouraged consumers to submit their applications on the official website of JPDCL where the link to the National Portal is available on website https://www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in/ to take advantage of the scheme's benefits."
Under the current pricing benchmarks, the subsidy amounts for solar rooftop systems in Jammu & Kashmir, are Rs 33,000 for 1-2 kWp systems- Rs 66,000 for 2-3 kWp systems- Rs 85,800 for 3 kWp systems or higher.
These subsidies offer significant incentives for homeowners in the region to adopt solar energy solutions."
According to the JPDCL Nodal offifer JPDCL, households that participate in the scheme can expect significant reductions in their electricity bills, in addition to the upfront subsidies. By installing solar rooftop systems, consumers can generate their own clean energy and lower their dependence on the grid, leading to substantial savings on their monthly electricity costs. "The spokesman also mentioned that Jammu DISCOM is actively promoting the scheme through various channels. To ensure widespread awareness, the organization is conducting awareness camps and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns across Electric Divisions. This outreach effort aims to maximize publicity and encourage participation in the flagship scheme, empowering more consumers to harness the benefits of solar energy.
