Sadhotra assails BJP’s Double Engine Sarkar’s massive Power Crisis in Jammu

JAMMU, July 25: Castigating the BJP’s Double Engine Sarkar for depriving the people of even the minimum basic necessities, especially during the ongoing humid and scorching monsoon across Jammu region, Former Minister and National Conference Additional General Secretary Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today expressed serious concern of erratic power supply and drinking water scarcity.
In a statement, he said the unscheduled and frequent power cuts have become a norm that results in breakdown in water, little water supply remains available in the Jammu City occasionally and at times after days together.
He described the laxity of the so-called Double Engine Sarkar in meeting the requirements of the people as highly deplorable and inhuman, saying the concerned departments cannot shirk their responsibilities so casually. Amidst the unbearable humidity and frequent downpours, the government’s inability to manage the power supply is causing immense hardship to the people, especially as the unscheduled power cuts have become a daily ordeal, disrupting lives, businesses, and essential services, he added.
Mr Sadhotra referred to the vulnerability of the people, including the elderly and those with health conditions aggravated by the heat and humidity. He also referred to the statement of a senior official, asking the Power Development Department to ensure hundred percent electricity in smart metered areas and better the supply in other places and called it most insensitive diktat, amounting to discrimination with sections of the society. How can a government think is such terms, he asked and said such administrative tantrums were unacceptable, as the people of all categories, smart metered or otherwise, are equally suffering due to callousness of the government.
On the one hand, there is acute shortage and frequent unscheduled cuts of power and on the other hand, people are being given huge electricity bills under the garb of smart meters. In view of scorching heat and humid, proper electricity supply be ensured as scarcity of power also affect the drinking water and Irrigation water. He alleged that anti-poor policies of the Double Engine Sarkar has created hell for the poor people.
Mr Sadhotra urged the government to realise its responsibilities and take immediate steps to resolve the power crisis. It is the government’s duty to provide power and cautioned the concerned departments not to test patience and resilience of the suffering masses.
