Early Times Report

Jammu, July 25: Following the footsteps of the arch-rival BJP, the central leadership of the Congress has also deputed teams of private agencies to survey before finalizing candidates for the coming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Highly placed sources said that two private agencies, hired by the Congress’s central leadership, are conducting surveys in different parts of Jammu City to get feedback about the party’s potential and winnable candidates for the coming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Keeping in view the factionalism in the party, Congress’s central leadership will not decide candidates only on the recommendation of local units”, sources said, adding, “Apart from recommendations of the local unit, the high command would also look into the survey reports before finalizing candidates for the Assembly polls”.
Sources said that some Congress leaders, who got information about the arrival of survey teams, are trying to approach these teams to mobilize for party mandates in the coming polls.

in the Congress said that after the party’s encouraging performance in Lok Sabha elections, especially in Jammu and Samba districts, many leaders have started staking claims on tickets from different constituencies.
Although the Congress failed to snatch any Lok Sabha seat from the BJP in Jammu province, party candidates secured respectable votes in many Assembly segments so the list of ticket claimants is increasing.
As reported earlier, the BJP has already conducted the survey over performance of the former MLAs of the party.
A private agency had conducting a survey of the performance of ex-legislators of BJP some of them had served as ministers in the previous PDP-BJP coalition regime in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The computerized survey was conducted to rate the outcome of the steps taken by BJP led NDA government at the Centre especially after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
