CCI delegation meets Union Minister in Jammu, raises key issues

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 27: A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI), led by its President Arun Gupta, met with the Union Minister of State for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, in Jammu today. The meeting focused on several pressing issues impacting the business community.
Arun Gupta highlighted that the current mandate under section 43B(h) requires buyers to clear payments within 15 to 45 days to micro and small enterprises (Udyam Registered). This could negatively impact micro and small enterprises, as traders may prefer medium-scale enterprises.
Amendments to support the business continuity of micro and small enterprises. Arun Gupta suggested setting up mother industries such as a Rail Coach factory and Defence manufacturing factory in Jammu to generate employment and boost ancillary units. The GST on Dhabas should be exempted or withdrawn as they are not eligible for input tax credit. Alternatively, raising the higher slab under composite tax to Rs. 50 lakhs was proposed.
The faceless assessment process often dismisses submissions by assesses without proper consideration. The assessments are not adequately responsive to the contentions and case laws presented by the assesses.
The new Industrial Policy benefits, including GST concessions, are only for new industrial undertakings, leaving existing units struggling to survive.
Extend the same concessions to existing industrial units to ensure their viability.
Frequent fluctuations in air fares are causing difficulties for the business community and general public.
The matter of fluctuating air fares is under consideration in parliament.
Hon'ble Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal assured the delegation that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned ministries for resolution. He acknowledged the concern regarding air fare fluctuations and confirmed that it is already under parliamentary review.
The delegation included:
Anil Gupta, Sr. Vice President
Rajeev Gupta, Jr. Vice President
Rajesh Gupta, Secretary
The meeting concluded with a commitment from the Union Minister to address the highlighted issues, fostering a positive outlook for the business community in Jammu.
