| Workshop on biomedical waste management held | | | Early Times Report
Leh Mar 20: A day long Training-cum-Workshop on Bio-Medical Waste Management was organized here today and was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, Ajeet Kumar Sahu. As many as 70 Paramedical staff on health department attended the workshop. Others present in the workshop included the Regional Wildlife Warden. Jigmet Takpa, Chief Engineer, NHPC, Doctors of Medical Department and District Officers. Addressing the inaugural session, the Deputy Commissioner Sahu said that holding of this workshop on an important issue of Bio-medical Waste Management would tremendously help to safe guard the environment as well as the public health. He said that a Master Plan for Leh town incoming up shortly in which provision of sewerage treatment, drainage system, treatment and disposal of solid and liquid wastes and other important waste management are prominently and systemically formulated. During the workshop, the Resource Persons highlighted the salient features of Bio-medical waste management such as segregate the waste correctly, handling dangerous chemical as mercury and glutaraldehyde carefully, cleaning of body fluids and soiled laundry properly etc. The Divisional Forest Officer, Balaji delivered vote of thanks.
