DARHAL, Aug 3: August 03, 2024:- Building on the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada program, the Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal has organized a special plantation drive with the theme "Ek Ped Maan Ke Naam" (One Tree for the Mother).
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and the local community, who came together to plant saplings across the college campus and its surrounding areas. The initiative aims to contribute to environmental conservation and promote a greener, healthier ecosystem.
The "Ek Ped Maan Ke Naam" drive aligned with the broader objectives of the Swachhta Pakhwada program, which focuses on fostering cleanliness, waste management, and sustainable practices.
The drive was conducted by students and faculty in presence of Principal Prof Zamir Mirza, Dr Ghulam Abbas, Dr. Mohd Saleem Wani, Dr Mohd Akhlaq, Dr Taseem, Prof. Anzar Ahmed and others.
During the event, participants were educated on the importance of tree plantation and its role in combating environmental challenges, such as climate change, soil erosion, and air pollution. Experts provided guidance on proper planting techniques and the care required for the saplings to thrive.
The college administration emphasized the significance of this collective effort, as it not only beautifies the campus but also contributes to the larger goal of increasing green cover and combating the effects of deforestation.
