Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 3: In continuation to the series of activities being organized under "Swachhata Pakhwada" initiated by the Government of India for institutionalizing Swachhata, and as part of various activities organized with regard to the 77th Independence Day Celebrations, NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Sidhra in collaboration with Health and Sanitization Committee of the college, under the aegis of IQAC, organized a Cleanliness and Sanitization Drive within the college premises. A well-maintained and clean college environment is essential for the overall well-being and academic success of students. Colleges play a vital role in shaping the future of the nation, and a clean environment contributes significantly to creating a conducive learning atmosphere. The aim of the Cleanliness and Sanitization Drive was to promote the values of cleanliness, discipline and respect for the environment amongst the students and to make them realize the importance of cleanliness for a healthy, socially responsible, economically dynamic and progressive nation. As part of the cleanliness drive, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college cleaned the college premises, collected waste including single use plastic and ensured proper sanitization of the premises. Students were made aware of the benefits of cleanliness and were advised to avoid single use plastic and to take up their proper disposal. The program was coordinated by Dr Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer, and Dr Rudrika Khajuria, Convener Health and Sanitization Committee, with the active support of committee members, faculty and staff. The drive was conducted under the guidance and overall supervision of the esteemed Principal of the college, Dr. G.S. Rakwal.
