JAMMU, Aug 3: After snatching the state status from Jammu & Kashmir and not restoring the democratic process, now conspiracies are being hatched to hollow out the voting rights of the people, this allegation was made by the leaders of all the opposition parties during the all-party protest in Jammu.
Today, all the opposition parties including Congress, NC, Shiv Sena (UBT), PDP, AAP, CPML,CPI S. Akali Dal, and leaders of many social organizations including HRC, AIPA, gathered at Maharaja Hari Singh Park in Jammu and protested vigorously under the banner of APUM, holding placards written slogans like "Return the status of state", "Restore democratic rights", "Withdraw the amendments that hollow out the voting rights of people".
On this occasion, Manish Sahni (State Head Shiv Sena (UBT) & APUM Convenor) and I.D. Khajuria, in his address, called the amendment in the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act (under which the jurisdiction of the government elected by the people has been reduced and the powers of the nominated Lieutenant Governor have been increased) an attack on the democratic rights of the people. Sahni said that the BJP has come to know that the people are going to give the BJP "Nil Batta Santana" in the upcoming assembly elections. BJP wants to capture power in Jammu and Kashmir by amending the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act.
At the same time, Congress spokesperson and former MLC Ravindra Sharma said that taking away the status of the state, limiting the jurisdiction of the assembly is an attack on democracy. Which will not be tolerated at all. NC Provincial President Ratan Lal Gupta said that along with returning the status of the state, the central government will also have to return our land and job rights.Sheikh Abdul Rehman (former MP) spoke on the restoration of rights of the sons of the soil of Jammu and Kashmir. Whereas Narendra Gupta (General Secretary Congress) raised the issue of power and water cuts and irregularities in bills. Along with this, Vijay Lochan (NC), Sohit Sharma (PDP), Ramesh Sarman (DOM), Rakesh Singh (NC), Sunny Kant Chimb (HRC), Nirmal Mahana (AAP), Narendra Singh (S Akali Dal), Comrade Sukhdev Singh (DBYC), Subhash Mehta (CPI-L), Comrade Hari Singh (CPM), Chaudhary Balkar Singh, Shivraj Singh, Gitter Singh expressed their views and resolved to fight unitedly for the restoration of the rights of the people. On this occasion, many leaders and workers of various parties including Sanjeev Kohli, Meenakshi Chhibber, Vikas, Dr. Shamshad, Bakshi, Vimla Luthra, Raj Singh, Jatinder Singh, Lucky, Rakesh Singh, Vimala Luthra, Pawan Singh, Mangu Ram, Sanjeev Sharma, Parahotam , Mehta, Manjeet Singh, Ajay Kumar, Romesh Chnder, Raj Singh, Rohan Manwal, Sahil Verma were present.
