| Hearing on Rubiya Syed transfer case adjourned | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20- Presiding Officer TADA Court today adjourned the transfer application of Rubiya Syed kidnapping case till March 30, 2009 as the case was fixed today for the arguments of counsel of the CBI. On the request of the CBI counsel that he was not feeling well and also on application filed by Advocate Yogesh Bakshi on behalf of alleged accused persons JKLF Supremo Yasin Malik and Ors seeking exemption of the accused persons for today on the eve of Nauroz, the Court adjourned the case for further hearing. It is worthwhile to mention here the accused persons had filed an application before the Court of TADA Jammu for transfer of cases from Jammu TADA Court to Srinagar TADA Court. On the last date of hearing the counsel for the accused had concluded the arguments on the issue and the Court had directed CBI to argue the case on March 20. It may be recalled that Dr. Rubiya Syed daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayed was kidnapped by the accused persons while going to hospital in December 1989 and demanded release of five hardcore militants of JKLF. She was later released by the kidnappers on the release of five hardcore militants of JKLF outfit. The accused are also facing trial in a case of killing of five air-force officials in the month of January 1990 while they were waiting for their Air-Force bus at Batmaloo, Srinagar. Both the cases were investigated by the country’s prime investigating agency CBI who presented challan in the TADA court. Both these cases are pending for framing charges for more than 17 years now.
