Breast feeding week celebrations organized by ASCOMS Hospital

Jammu, Aug 5: To commemorate World Breast Feeding Week, Department of Paediatrics, ASCOMS & Hospital, in association with of Indian Academy of Paediatrics organized various activities regarding awareness on Breast Feeding. The Scientific Activities were organized under the supervision of Dr. Ravinder K Gupta, Prof & Head, Department of Paediatrics and Dr. Vivek Pandita Assistant Professor, Deptt. of Paediatrics and Dr. Anuj Gupta, Senior Resident, Paediatrics. During the event various Posters, Rangoli were kept for presentation. A wonderful and informative Skit was also presented by the students of Nursing College directed by Prof (Dr.) Indra Moza, Principal, ASCCON Education. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The others present on this occasion were Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, Medical Supdtt, ASCOMS, Dr. Sapna Puri, Prof & HOD, Obstt & Gynae, Dr, Renu Hashia, Prof & HOD, Ophthalmology, ASCOMS, Dr. Sushil Sharma, Asstt. Professor, Paediatrics, ASCOMS, Dr. Vikram Prihan, Vice Principal, ASCOMS Paramedical College and other dignitaries. This scientific activity was also attended by faculty, staff, Postgraduate students, paramedics and both MBBS and nursing students.
A Symposium on various aspects of Breast Feeding was organized in which MBBS students namely Areeha Mushtaq, Aaradhaya Gupta, Akshun Sharma, Anaab, Amaan Naqash, Ayush Magotra and Amman Mushtaq deliberated various aspects of Breast Feeding. Dr. Shyamli Singh and Dr. Susan Javed, PG students, Department of Obstt. & Gynae also deliberated on practical issues of Breast Feeding.
Dr. Ravinder Gupta after welcoming the Chief Guest briefed the audience about various activities conducted during this week and also highlighted the benefits of Breast Feeding to the newly born. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of Department of Paediatrics for organizing this scientific event and also highlighted the significance of Breast Feeding and congratulated Dr. Ravinder Gupta and his team for organizing this activity. In his address he laid stressed upon for making the atmosphere conducive for working mothers so that they can feed their newly born during working hours. He also appreciated the students who took part in this scientific activity. The proceedings of the event was conducted by Mihik Gupta and Aradhita Manhas.
